Sympathy Flowers in Honolulu: What to Send and How to Arrange Delivery
Written by Watanabe Floral, Inc.
When someone you care about loses a loved one, sending flowers can be a quiet way to let their family know you are thinking of them. You do not need the perfect words or an elaborate tribute. Start with two questions: Are the flowers meant for a funeral or memorial service, or for the family's home? And when do they need to arrive?
We hand-craft sympathy and funeral arrangements in Honolulu, and we can help you choose something that suits the setting and your relationship to the person being remembered.
Choose Flowers for the Service or the Family's Home
For a funeral or memorial service, a standing tribute may be appropriate, particularly if you know where it will be displayed.
Casket sprays rest on the casket and are traditionally selected by close family members. Confirm the family's plans before ordering one.
Standing sprays and funeral wreaths are displayed at funerals, memorials, or graveside gatherings. They are intended for the service rather than the family's home.
Podium pieces and urn tributes can be placed near a reading area, photograph, or urn, depending on the service arrangements.
For the family's home, consider an arrangement that can be enjoyed without additional setup. Our sympathy flowers for the home include floral arrangements and potted orchids. Sending flowers after the service can also be a thoughtful way to let someone know they remain in your thoughts.
If you are unsure whether a service tribute is welcome, ask a family member or the funeral home before choosing a large arrangement.
Let the Family's Traditions Guide Your Choice
White flowers are often chosen for their understated appearance, but they are not the only respectful option. Colorful flowers may reflect someone's personality or a memory their family holds dear. Tropical flowers and lei may also be part of remembrance in Hawaii.
Customs differ among families, faiths, and communities. Rather than assuming one flower or color is appropriate for everyone, consider any wishes the family has shared. If particular flowers or colors are important, tell us before ordering so we can discuss current options and availability.
The size of the tribute does not determine the sincerity of your condolences. A simple arrangement and a personal note can say enough.
Check the Delivery Details Before You Order
When flowers are going to a service, timing matters. Before ordering, gather the deceased person's name, the venue's full address, the service date and start time, and any instructions from the family or funeral home. For delivery to a home, confirm the recipient's name and address.
We offer local hand delivery in eligible Oahu delivery zones, Monday through Saturday. As of October 14, 2026, same-day delivery for eligible arrangements is subject to available delivery slots and these order cutoffs:
Delivery zone | Same-day order cutoff
Zone 1 | Before 1 p.m.
Zone 2 | Before noon
Zone 3 | Before 11 a.m.
Delivery zones depend on the destination ZIP code, not simply whether the address is described as Honolulu. We do not offer Sunday delivery, and selected holidays are excluded. Review our delivery FAQ and zone details before choosing a date.
Not every funeral design is eligible for same-day service. Wreaths, sprays, and other special tribute pieces may require advance ordering. If the ceremony is approaching, please call us before ordering to confirm what can be prepared and whether delivery can be arranged for the service.
Standard delivery takes place between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., so meeting an order cutoff does not guarantee arrival before a particular ceremony. If the service has a fixed start time, ask us about available timed-delivery arrangements and their requirements.
You can also use the delivery-address field on an individual sympathy arrangement page to check the options shown for your destination.
Keep the Card Message Simple
You do not have to find a phrase that makes a loss easier. A brief, sincere note is enough:
“Thinking of you and your family. With sympathy and aloha.”
Or, if you knew the person who died:
“In loving memory. You are in our thoughts.”
You can add your message when placing an order online. If you are sending flowers from the mainland or elsewhere, including your name and relationship can help the family know who is thinking of them.
We're Here to Help You Choose
There is no single right arrangement for every family. If you are uncertain about the type of tribute, the delivery location, or the time available, we are happy to talk through the options.
