5 Questions for Tumama

1. Tell us about your role in Watanabe Floral

My role as a member of the Watanabe Floral Inc. is being a part of our Sales Team. I am a Sales representative and mainly assist our valued guests and customers with whatever their floral needs may be. I work back and forth between the sales floor and call center, so that means striving to help people in person, over the phone, or via email to find the perfect floral piece for any occasion.

2. What is your favorite part of your job?

There are two parts of my job that I enjoy. The first is coming in and being surrounded with all the different types of flowers, both cut and arranged. The second is being able to help guests bring their ideas to life for important occasions and/or for the important people in their lives.

3. Tell us who is one woman in your life whom you admire and why?

Definitely my Mom. For a big chunk of my childhood, I rarely saw her because she would always be at work. I would see her only at night, right before I went to bed. When I was in high school, her health started to decline. The next thing we know, she became a stay-at-home mom, and she would always say that it wasn't by choice. Because of my Mom, I learned about sacrifice and hard work at a young age. I also learned patience, love and endurance from her as I watched her raise 2 kids, while opening our home to extended family members in need. She always strived to give back even when there wasn't a lot to give.

4. For International Women’s Day, what is the most important message you want to send out to young women?

Near my workstation I keep a quote that reads, "No one can make you feel inferior without your consent." I believe that it's VERY vital for the rising generation of woman to know that no matter who they are and what path they walk in life, that they matter! In big ways and in small ways. People will have opinions, but we shouldn't let the opinions of others change the way we see ourselves. Ladies, demand respect. Not only from others but from yourself as well.

5. Which is your favorite arrangement (on WFI's website) and why?

I've always loved tropical flowers, so one of my favorite arrangements is the Tropical Bliss. I love the bright and cheerful colors that is shown through the different flowers & greens. It's smaller compared to a lot of the other tropical arrangements on our website but the overall design is so intricate and gives off a contemporary vibe.
